Glenn Beck is milking his breakup with Fox News and continues to claim it’s his own decision to leave the network. The conservative TV personality took some time on his show last night to discuss his departure from Fox and compare himself to Paul Revere.
“When I took this job I didn’t take it because it was going to be a career for me,” Glenn said on his show Glenn Beck last night. “Paul Revere did not get up on the horse and say, ‘I’m going to do this for the rest of my life.’ He didn’t do it. He got off the horse at some point and fought in the revolution, and then he went back to silversmithing.”
The controversial host announced his parting with Fox in a joint statement on his Web site yesterday. His departure comes after weeks of speculation that his relationship with Fox was strained as a result of advertisers and ratings.
According to the statement, Glenn Beck has averaged 2.2 million total viewers during the 27 months it has been on the air.
Glenn, 47, did insist last night that even though he will not be on T.V. with his show, he still plans to develop content for Fox and make his presence known.
“I will continue to tell the story,” he said. “I’m going to be showing you other ways for us to connect. But I have other things to do.”
He did not announce when exactly he would be leaving.
