Just how does pregnant and single Gossip Girl star Kelly Rutherford manage to keep her cool with all the pressures on her at the moment? She tells OK! it’s all about taking a deep breath.
"You do meditation, you do yoga, and you pray," Kelly, who is about 3.5 months away from giving birth to a baby girl, recently explained to OK!. "You focus on what’s important and on being a mom."
Indeed, Kelly’s son, two year old Hermés Gustaf Daniel Giersch, is clearly a source of pride for her. The glowing mom described her son’s reaction to her pregnancy: "He’s getting excited about it. We talk about it. I don’t know if the reality is there yet but he’s really sweet. He calls her by her name. I think he’s going to be an amazing big brother.”
And unlike the stereotype of a mom-to-be craving pickles and ice cream, evening Kelly’s prego munchies are healthy. "I crave a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. Like lately it’s been celery and carrots. Like crunchy vegetables and fruits and things like that. I ate a whole papaya on the way here, with lime."
Preparations are underway for the new baby’s nursery, the actress says. "We’ve been coming up with some ideas. Right now I’m just finding some tear sheets and talking to different people about doing a nursery. I’ve got to figure out if I’m going to do it in L.A. or New York because I think I’m going to be in New York more. So it’s more logistics.”
Kelly displayed a new optimism about her marriage with estranged husband Daniel Giersch, describing the relationship as "much more amicable." The actress has publicly accused Daniel of "frightening" her with aggressive behavior, but Kelly now admits that, "We both have a lot of love in our hearts. It’s just figuring everything out. Everyone has their moments.”
These days, most of Kelly’s moments are spent on the Gossip Girl set, where wardrobe works hard to cover her baby bump. Kelly claims that hiding her pregnancy for the show has "been a challenge."
OK! predicts that unlike the other challenges in the actress’s life, this one can’t be made any smaller with yoga.
