With speculation running rife in current days as to whether Gigi Hadid had given birth to her first child with partner, Zayn Malik, the pair confirmed the happy news of the arrival of their little bundle of joy on Wednesday, September 23, via social media.

The former One Direction star was the first to announce the birth, calling their little girl "healthy and beautiful."

"Our baby girl is here, healthy & beautiful," the 27-year-old singer wrote alongside an adorable image of the trio holding hands. "To try put into words how i am feeling right now would be an impossible task. The love i feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, & thankful for the life we will have together x."

News that Gigi and Zayn were expecting their first child emerged in April after a "family source" spilled the beans she was pregnant.

The IMG model — who has been in an off-again, on-again relationship with Zayn since 2015 — revealed to Jimmy Fallon that she is going to be a mama. "Obviously, we wish we could’ve announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well-wishes and support," she admitted.

An insider told Us Weekly last month that the couple had been getting along great ahead of the birth of their baby girl.

"They are closer than ever. Gigi has been living at her mom’s farm with Zayn," the source revealed. "She came back to NYC recently but she plans to spend most of her pregnancy there at the farm."

In May, PEOPLE said the celebrity couple "plan to have a large family," a source revealed. "They've been through their ups and downs, but neither stopped caring about the other. Gigi is young but always said she wants several kids. She's sensitive and nurturing and will be a great mom."
