Following the former Disney star's historic Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series win at the 2020 Emmy Awards, her 23-year-old Euphoria costar reached out via social media.
"Congratulations captain @Zendaya,” Elordi captioned a photo of the actress in character. "Bravo." He also added two sweet emojis — a black heart and a purple heart — to the post.
On Sunday, September 20, the 24-year-old became the youngest actress — and only second Black actress — to win an Emmy in the lead actress drama category.
The hit HBO series, which debuted in June 2019, follows a group of high school students through their experiences of sex, drugs, friendships, love, identity and trauma. Zendaya portrays Rue Bennett, a recovering teenage drug addict struggling to find her place in the world. Elordi plays Nate Jacobs, a high school athlete who is dealing with his sexual insecurities.
"They looked like they were getting a little cozy. At one point, they were walking with each other and being a little flirty," an eyewitness told Us Weekly at the time.
In January, the California native called Elordi her "best friend" when presenting an award to him at the American Australian Association Arts Awards. The following month, the young stars seemingly confirmed their romance when they were spotted photographed kissing in New York City.
At the time, a source told E! News that "Jacob and Zendaya have been seeing each other for months now. They started as close friends but it became romantic after their show ended."
Sadly, the pair, who remained tight lipped about their relationship, didn't last, and the handsome hunk moved on with model Kaia Gerber. Elordi and the 19-year-old were spotted packing on the PDA in New York City over Labor Day Weekend. The new couple was also seen vacationing in Mexico two weeks later.
