Julia Roberts may have marked her 18th wedding anniversary with Danny Moder last month by posting a PDA-packed picture on Instagram.  But a source tells OK! that things aren’t nearly so loving behind the scenes.  Julia, 52, and Danny, 51, are reportedly tussling over a move she’s been planning to San Francisco, where “she’s wanted to live for years.”  The star’s even splashed out $8.3 million on a stunning Victorian property—while Danny remains “desperate to stay in Southern California, where he’s a lot more comfortable,” spills the source.  “They’re tired of bickering about it, but they’re at an impasse and may be headed for a trial separation — where Julia moves there by herself and Danny stays put.”

The source claims that tensions between the parents of three have been ramping up for weeks—especially since the actress teamed up with fellow Oscar winner Denzel Washington, 65 (her costar in 1993’s The Pelican Brief), to star in and produce the upcoming Netflix feature Leave the World Behind.  “They’ll be spending a ton of time together— and everyone knows that Denzel’s a major flirt, even though he’s married,” explains the source.  “The mixed messages just drive Danny crazy: One minute Julia’s winding down her acting career and moving to San Francisco, the next she’s taking a huge project and hanging out nonstop with Denzel.”

Julia’s closest pals, Richard Gere and George Clooney, have both “tried to play peacemaker” with the at-odds couple, says the source, but it seems to be no use.  “The last thing Julia’s friends want is to see these two split up, but it’s hard to imagine either of them backing down.”
