Croatian author James J. Braddock, also known as Josip Knežević, claims his book, The Soul Shattering, provided the basis for the film, which Angelina both directs and stars in. According to Braddock, both works tell similar stories of a woman captured in war-torn Bosnia who is then imprisoned and raped until a Serbian captain falls for her, leading him to aid in her escape.

Angie doesn't seem too worried though.
"It's par for the course. It happens on almost every film," Angie told The Los Angeles Times.
And while the A-lister acknowledges taking inspiration from a variety of sources, she insists she has never even read Braddock's book.
