'Bachelor' Star Melissa Rycroft Found Her Fairy-Tale Ending: "I've Never Been Happier"
May 14 2012, Published 1:00 p.m. ET
As the co-host of Bachelor Pad, Melissa Rycroft helped her fellow Bachelor/Bachelorette cast-offs find a second chance at true love. Fortunately, the 29-year-old former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader didn't need the help herself. Harmoniously married to Tye Strickland since 2009, the couple welcomed their first child, Ava, last year.

"Last week, she literally started walking," Melissa tells OK! excitedly. These milestones, as well as the family's other joys and challenges, will form the basis for Melissa's new series Melissa & Tye.
Why did you decide to do the series?
We'd been approached repeatedly since we got engaged, but then we got married and pregnant, so it wasn't something we were interested in. Now we're settled, so it seemed like a good time.

A lot of the show revolves around your marriage. What do you see as the secret to staying happily married?
You have to make time for date nights and not take each other too seriously. Tye and I had a rough year — I had postpartum depression — but to have a partner who supports you in sickness and in health and all that is important.
Communication is key, laughter is key, just keeping each other at the forefront is absolutely essential.

Does Tye have any habits you hate?
He bites and picks his nails all the time! He will be holding my hand and I can feel him digging into his nail and I'm like, 'Tye, that is so gross!' He doesn't cut his toenails, he pick his toenails! I swear he didn't do it while we were dating!
