She was surrounded by friends and family at her Cinco de Mayo party in her Brentwood, Calif., home — her sons were there, as were her fiancé Jason Trawick, her sister Jamie Lynn and even her niece Maddie. So it's no surprise Britney Spears let it all hang out on May 5, wearing rather dumpy jean shorts and splurging on fat-laden Mexican fare like carne asada and guacamole.
But now that Britney, 30, has signed up to be a judge on next season's The X Factor (FOX is investing a reported $15 million in the star) those close to Brit have decided it's time for her to spruce up and slim down.
"Britney's publicist and others are urging her to get a full, head-to-toe makeover," a Spears family friend tells OK!.
In fact, this insider reveals that those close to Brit want the star working on her hair and makeup and going through "practice rehearsals" now, in order to be camera-ready by fall.

The problem? A much-younger Demi Lovato, 19, is being eyed as another judge for the reality talent show, and Britney's camp doesn't want their charge to look matronly or sloppy.

"No one wants Britney to be a flop, so she has to look and act great on camera," says the insider. "It will be a challenge because Demi is a natural and is guaranteed to be an audience pleaser."
"Britney knows she needs to make a good impression and she knows that she has to bank on her looks," adds the insider.
