Chris Brown is a Pit Bull Breeder?

April 27 2012, Published 11:13 a.m. ET
Don't look now but R&B singer Chris Brown has a new hobby and it's none other than selling pit bull puppies for $1,000 each. Really?!
According to the Huffington Post, he's selling them on the site CB Breeds, and shelter advocates aren't exactly thrilled about his new pastime.
The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) referred to him as a "backyard breeder" and instead of breeding, they would prefer that he leverages his celebrity status to encourage adoptions from shelters instead.

"There is no reason to breed and produce more pit bull puppies when there are pit puppies waiting for homes in every shelter in America." Madeline Bernstein, spcaLA president, continued in the statement, "The $1,000 price tag for a Chris Brown puppy could be better spent money saving the lives of shelter animals."
As for Chris, his reps explained to the Associated Press the site wasn't a new gig on the side for the singer. They mentioned he's trying to sell a litter of puppies that his family's dog gave birth to recently.
