During her performance with Maks Chmerkovskiy, Melissa hit her head on the ballroom floor. After the dance, she started saying she was feeling dizzy and lightheaded. At that point Gavin DeGraw carried her from the elevated stage and out of the studio.
Karina Smirnoff recalled, "I just asked if she was doing better but they don't know. She hit her head in the middle of the dance. After which she felt really lightheaded and dizzy so right away they took her to the hospital. Actually Gavin carried her down to the red room because she was too weak to walk. After that the show kept going and we had to get ready to dance, and I think that's when they took her to the hospital."

OK! EXCLUSIVE: CARRIE ANN INABA SAYS DANCING WITH THE STARS MADE HER FEEL "EMPTY"
Gavin, Karina's dance partner, told reporters, "We're not married but that's kind of how I carried her, like we were crossing the threshold into our honeymoon suite. It’s usually a pretty short walk but tonight it was like 100 yards downstairs and stuff. I hope you didn't feel like my arms were too much like Jell-O at that point."
Rest assured, it sounds like Melissa will be back on her feet soon. In the middle of the night she Tweeted, "I'm alright. Mild concussion and whiplash. Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of."
Then she added, "@MaksimC you are my champion. I adore you. @GavinDeGraw bless your heart for carrying me down those stairs!"
