After the exciting news that Ben Affleck has been cast as the husband/lead suspsect in the highly-anticipated movie adaptation of Gone Girl comes word that Rosamund Pike has been cast as the titular gal.

Rosamund is a very interesting choice—she's less well-known, especially in the U.S., which may make it easier for her to disappear into the role. Lots of major Hollywood names were being thrown around for the film, including Natalie Portman and Charlize Theron. Fellow A-list lady Reese Witherspoon is currently set to produce.
