Kym Johnson's 'DWTS' Diary: The Final Blog of the Season!
May 24 2011, Published 11:30 a.m. ET
Hi, everyone, and welcome to my OK! blog! Every week, I’ll be sharing with you all the behind the scenes stories as I train NFL wide receiver Hines Ward for this season’s Dancing With the Stars, trying to make the Pittsburgh Steelers pro look as cool in the ballroom as he does on the football field for season 12!
It's sad that this is the last blog! It's been so many weeks! I feel really really good about this season and how it's gone. We definitely have a very long day — and we have to dance one more dance tonight. Hines and I were at the dance studio this morning, we were at rehearsals at 8 o'clock. I can't even believe that we were there. We were both in the studio going, "Oh my gosh, this is crazy!" It was actually kind of sad, it was our last rehearsal. We were both like, "Aww, it's all over!"
We had the best night last night. I couldn't have wished for a better partner. Hines has just been amazing, he really is such a lovely person. He's been a great dancer. I have been so lucky, incredibly lucky with all of my partners. Hines is up there with all of my great partners that I've had. He's just been incredible, I feel like a very lucky person!

The quickstep is one of my favorite dancers, we did have that very early on in the competition which made us excited to do it again. Hines stepped up and did such an amazing job. I'm really glad we had that dance to do again. We got two 10s — I was a bit disappointed, I thought Len could've given us a 10, I think it was deserving of it, but that's how it goes, we just have to dance extra hard tonight and hopefully get some good scores. It's not over yet, I don't know what's going to happen! That's why Hines and I went into the studio this morning — We don't want to have any regrets when this is all over.
We worked so hard, and I don't think we can look back on this and say "Oh, I wish we had done that extra rehearsal or been a bit more prepared," we've definitely put everything out there. I think last night's dances were great, I loved our freestyle! It all just came off and really worked. It was a proud moment.
Tonight everybody gets to do their favorite dance of the whole season. So Hines and I were debating which one to do, but then we just came to a mutual decision that the Samba would be the one that we would do. That's because that was our dance during personal story week, we danced to "Fantasy" by Earth, Wind & Fire — Hines' mom's favorite song. It meant something to Hines, and his mom is going to be in the audience. I think it's really fitting that we end our journey on that dance because it was a turning point in the competition for us. We did it in week 3 and now I think the work that we've done we could improve on the judges' scores. It means something to Hines, and that's what this show is about — celebrating that he's come so far, and that's what tonight's dance should be.

We are DEFINITELY going to stay in touch after this. Hines is going to be a life-long friend. We've just really had so much fun together. I'm going to miss him SO much when all of this is done, but you know what, it's fine. We'll definitely be keeping in touch! I'll have to make a trip to Atlanta and to Pittsburgh to see him play football. I can't wait to go and watch him in action, he's told me all about it but I've never seen him play football, so I really want to go and see him play.
As soon as the show is finished tonight we take the Disney jet, all the couples do, to New York. We fly out straightaway, go to NYC, we'll be doing Good Morning America and all the press which will be really fun. We'll try to get a bit of sleep on the plane, and then I'll be back home. I'm pretty much going straight to New York and back. My mom in LA wants to go to Palm Springs, so come Thursday we'll be heading there and spending the weekend by the pool. I can't wait!

I don't have much downtime because after this I'm pretty much busy: I'm going to Vegas to do a show; to Mohegan Sun to do a show; then I'm going to be in Tampa on HSN for the Dancing With the Stars hair collection, selling the collection I've been wearing throughout the season. I'm excited about that. So I'm pretty busy but hopefully in the next couple of months I can get a good five days where I can take some time off.
This season has been so much fun, especially the last two weeks -- the've been a rollercoaster with many highs and lows. I injured myself, I came back from that — Hines was so supportive and by my side in the hospital and taking me back to the doctor again. He's been such a big support. We've become more than dance partners, we're great friends and I'm just so proud of what Hines has achieve this season. I feel really proud of myself too.
Now let's see what happens tonight! Thanks for reading, everyone!
