Maggie Gyllenhaal was rewarded with more than just an Oscar nomination for her role in Crazy Heart on Monday — she also got homemade pancakes courtesy of her brother Jake Gyllenhaal.
Maggie was spending the night at Jake's house when she learned that she'd been nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award, she tells Extra.
"My brother's phone was ringing at his house and he woke up and said, 'Did you get nominated?!' I said, 'Yes! I did!'"
Maggie said she thought about going back to bed after hearing the early morning good news, but she says Jake insisted she stay awake and he made her coffee and pancakes.
Jake was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his performance in Brokeback Mountain and their mom Naomi Foner Gyllenhaal has also been nominated.
"You know what? That was helpful that he's been through this, that he kind of knows how it feels," Maggie says.
Meanwhile, Maggie's husband Peter Sarsgaard stars in An Education which has been nominated for three Oscars. She says he is "so thrilled."
The Academy Awards will air live Sunday, March 7 on ABC.
