It's hard to believe Meredith Vieira's final day on Today is actually here! Seems like she just announced her departure but after spending nearly five years in the co-anchor seat alongside Matt Lauer, the vivacious veteran journalist is gearing up to say one final au revoir during today's broadcast.

After she signs off, Meredith will pass the torch to Ann Curry who will fill her spot. She'll have big shoes to fill right on the heels of Meredith's departure announcement back in April. As noted by PopEater, Meredith explained at the time, "After months of personal reflection and private conversations between my family and my friends, I've decided to leave Today in June."

Interestingly enough, Meredith replaced Katie Couric when she left Today in 2006 to anchor the CBS Evening News. Katie's made a splash in the news herself this week by signing on the dotted line to host a talk show on ABC. As for the future of Meredith's career once she becomes a Today "alum?" Lucky for us it sounds like she's not hanging up her microphone altogether. According to MSNBC, an announcement will be made soon regarding her role with NBC News.
