OK!'s Bangin' Bods With Celeb Trainer Jay Cardiello: Make a DIY Dumbbell With An Empty Water Jug
Don't try to pull the "I don't have any weights" excuse next time you're trying to shove off your workout. In the end, you'll be happy you didn't get away with it. Your waistline will be pretty cheery, too. Creating gym machinery isn't the equivalent of piecing together a treadmill in your basement like you might think—try getting that down your steps.
OK!'s Bangin' Bods resident celebrity trainer Jay Cardiello says it's as easy as picking up an empty water bottle. Call it a DIY dumbbell, if you will.
"Think about when you were a child. There weren’t reps. There weren’t sets. You picked up things, and you ran around with things," says Jay. "There are a lot of things you can implement in or around the house," he explains.
One of those things? An empty 16-20 oz. water bottle. "As you progress, you can use a gallon size and fill it with water or with sand," explains Jay. So when one weight ceases to make you break a sweat (kind of like that dusty 2-pounder in your closet) take your bottle to the sink, fill it up, and instantaneously up the difficulty of your workout.

Another unlikely partner in burning cals? Your pillow! You know, the thing that screams relaxation.
"A pillow is great thing that you can stand on, just like a waddle board at the gym. Think about things you can substitute if you don’t have availability to weights," says Jay.
