Pregnant Natalie Portman on 'Black Swan' Lesbian Scene: "Everyone Wants to See That"

Natalie Portman has a lot to be smiling about. Not only is she pregnant and engaged to her Black Swan choreographer Benjamin Millepied, but Black Swan has earned her a spot in the Oscar race!

Natalie's spot on Entertainment Weekly's Oscar Race issue cover was well-deserved by the 29-year-old Black Swan star.

Her hard work should pay off as a Best Actress Oscar nomination is expected for her role as a tormented ballerina.

“There were some nights that I thought I literally was going to die,” she tells EW. “It was the first time I understood how you could get so wrapped up in a role that it could sort of take you down.”

But Natalie's co-star Mila Kunis also deserves some credit for helping to make Black Swan hit it big in the box office.

“Everyone was so worried about who was going to want to see this movie,” Natalie recalls to EW. “I remember them being like, ‘How do you get guys to a ballet movie? How do you get girls to a thriller?’ And the answer is a lesbian scene. Everyone wants to see that.”

Also receiving an EW Oscar Race cover is James Franco for his role in 127 Hours. The new issue of EW is on stands Friday, Dec. 31.
