Savannah Guthrie, host of The Today Show, is in no rush to tie the knot to her political advisor/media consultant Michael Feldman, whom she's been engaged to since May.

She admits she needs to get down to the business of planning their nuptials.

“We are procrastinating a little bit on our wedding plans,”  Savannah tells me this week during the Estee Lauder Modern Muse fragrance launch at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in NYC. “It took us four years to get engaged. We really have been enjoying our engagement almost too much, because we really need to start planning our wedding, which our mothers are consistently inquiring about. That’s our plan for this fall— asks fiancé we’re going to plan a wedding, right? Yes.”

Why are they perfect together?

“I think we have a lot of mutual respect,” she says. “We’re really into each other. He’s a great friend. We make each other laugh. He’s holding my purse right now, but he’s much more capable than that. I think it’s a lot about having that companion-ability, enjoying each other’s company, and respecting each other. He’s incredibly smart, and hilarious, and he’s the person I want to spend all my time with.”

Kids may or may not be in the future for Savannah and Michael,  but either way, she's fine with it.

“Of course, of course we’d like to have kids,” she says. “If we’re lucky, we’d be so happy to, but life—you have to be ready for whatever you get. I’m hopeful that we will, but whatever happens, I feel very thankful about where I am.”
