Review: Daniel Johnston

It was everything I expected and nothing I expected at the same time. After a cancelled interview with the singer-songwriter, I was still very excited to see him in such a small venue such as Spiegeltent.
With his song binder ready, Daniel pleased the crowd. He not only played guitar with the style that is uniquely Daniel’s, but he also got on the piano and played a few songs. This was a feat that literally brought everyone to their knees as they sat on the ground and listened to Daniel play. It was very reminiscent of elementary school story time.

The encore was maybe the highlight of the night. Daniel came out played “Devil Town” and left. It was a song fitting for a city like New York.
