The Science Behind the Lindsay Lohan Death Hoax

Given Lindsay Lohan's current situation, it was only a matter of time before a death hoax would surface. Yes, the 24-year-old actress was the target of a Justin Bieber-esque bogus death report early this morning. 

Around midnight PST, LiLo's Wikipedia page was edited to note that the jail-bound actress had died at age 24, E! News reports, and no cause of death was indicated.

The hoax snowballed like rapid fire — thanks to the reigning social media network, Twitter — with Tweets questioning whether or not Lindsay had died.

Then came Lindsay's new BFF — Kim Kardashian.

Along with the Wikipedia updates and Tweets, a bogus Kim Kard Twitter account — with a misspelled ID name as "kimkardashain"— fueled the confusion with the following Tweet, via E! News:  "Omg! Is @lindsaylohan dead?! I keep hearing these rumors from my friends n stuff!! Is it true?!"

In reality, Kim has not Tweeted about Lindsay in days — her last visit to the troubled actress was a week ago.

Kim has however had a date at Pinkberry with Justin Bieber.

So what is the real Lindsay up to?

She is very much alive.

Lindsay has been out and about shopping for art supplies with her mom, Dina Lohan, and sister, Ali Lohan. She is also actively Tweeting rants at Joan Rivers and the U.S. justice system and possibly rekindling a fling with ex-girlfriend, DJ Samantha Ronson.

According to E! News, LiLo is also working on her jail sentence appeal and overseeing her leggings and handbag collection.

A very busy schedule for a "dead" girl, indeed.
