Screen Actors Guild Awards: 'Bridesmaids,' 'Moneyball' & More Surprise Nominees

The Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations are in, and... we're a little surprised!
Of course, some of our favorites — and those most deserving — recieved nominations, but there are still some actors and actresses who slid under the radar to grab a place in the spotlight.
Take Armie Hammer, for one. The 25-year-old actor, known for last year's big Oscar winner The Social Network, nabbed a supporting-actor nod for his role in J. Edgar opposite Leonardo DiCaprio, who also earned a nomination for his part in the film. We love Armie, but no one expected him to garner attention for this performance, sort of like Moneyball's Jonah Hill, who joins Armie in the supporting-actor category.
OK! NEWS: AND THE SAG AWARDS NOMINEES ARE...
Jonah, who's usually seen in comedies, played a more serious character in Moneyball, which also earned Brad Pitt a nomination for best actor. Brad we expected, but Jonah, not so much.
Another surprise was Bridesmaids, which received two nominations — one for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture and another for Melissa McCarthy, who grabbed a place in the supporting-actress category for her hilarious portrayal of an insane sister-in-law-to-be. The cast is hilarious, but to be nominated with serious films like The Artist, The Descendants, The Help and Midnight in Paris seems a bit odd.

Another surprise was newcomer Jessica Chastain — who will be battling it out for the supporting-actress award alongside Melissa, The Artist's Berenice Bejo, Albert Nobbs' Janet McTeer and Jessica's co-star Octavia Spencer — for her role as the ditzy Celia Foote in The Help. Jessica was adorable in the film, but we were expecting Shailene Woodley, who plays George Clooney's daughter in The Descendants, to nab the final place in this category.
