It seems like Selena Gomez's TV career only just began. And yet it's nearly over.

The Wizards of Waverly Place star says she's leaving the small screen behind when the season wraps — to go to college, and Hollywood.

"I think this'll be the last series that I do," she has told The New York Post. "I'm going to try to pull a Natalie Portman," said Selena, who has her sights set on Northwestern University.

"Natalie went to Harvard while shooting Star Wars".

What she doesn't want to do, is pull a James Van Der Beek — who went from playing teen-friendly Dawson Leery, right into more challenging roles... and let his career take a nosedive.

"I'm going to make that transition slowly," Gomez says. "I'm not going to immediately go do something that's way off the charts, because my goal is to keep my audience and have them grow with me."
