Singer Bobby Farrell Found Dead on Russian Tour

Disco king Bobby Farrell, the lead singer of the European chart-topping, 1970s disco group Boney M, has died at the age 61. Bobby was found dead in his hotel room while on tour in Russia.

Bobby's agent, John Seine, delivered the sad news that the singer was found dead in his hotel room in St. Petersburg on Thursday morning by hotel staff after he failed to respond to a wake-up call, PopEater reports.

Seine added that Bobby performed in his scheduled show Wednesday night, but had complained of breathing problems after the performance.

"There was no sign of violent death," a source told the AFP, via PopEater. "The investigation continues."

Boney M was based in Germany, but split in 1986. The group's best known hits include 'Daddy Cool' and 'By the Rivers Of Babylon.'

His new group called Bobby Farrell and Boney M included three female backup singers, who he performed with until the time of his death.

Bobby was born Alfonso Farrell in Aruba and lived in Amsterdam.

Global chart-topper Lady Gaga reportedly incorporated Bobby's influence in on of her hits!

The vocal "Ma-Ma-Ma" from 'Ma Baker' is feature in Gaga's Monster track "Poker Face."
