It's been about 36 hours since the How I Met Your Mother series finale, and many fans are still fuming over how the show's divisive conclusion. The show ended (SPOILERS ALERTS!) with the Mother dying and Ted returning to his original love Robin, and plenty of fans were enraged by development. In the wake of the finale, the cast and producers of the show have reacted to the rage.

Star Josh Radnor told Vulture, "I thought the title of the show was always a bit of a fake-out. It was more of a hook to hang the thing on. Really it was more about these are the crazy adventures and these are the lessons I had to learn before I met your mother." He went on, "But, also, part of the DNA of the show is they lead you one way and then they pull you back. You think you’re watching one thing in an episode and then it turns out you’re watching something completely different. I think that the twists in the finale were in keeping with that."

Cobie Smulders simply posted a spoiler-ific Instagram from the set after the finale, with the caption, "Spoilers!! Best seat in the house. Thank you HIMYM."

"Thank you all. I mean it: Every possible reaction to the last 44 minutes...thank you all..." producer Craig Thomas tweeted. "The fact that we have been a tv sitcom that has received this much passion from fans, for 9 years (not just tonight) -- thank you." He continued: "We wrote a comedy with dramatic elements till the very end. Thanks for taking that ride with us. #HIMYM" and "We did a finale about life's twists and turns and that is not always what happens...but THANKS!"

Alyson Hannigan posted a truly amazing video of herself running around in her white whale suit. This may be the best response of all. She also responded to a few fans complaining about an unsolved plot point: “@crystaldawnx @alydenisof LILY YOU NEED TO PAY MARSHALL” I DID!!! They cut it :(((
