It seems that Whoopi Goldberg is not prepared to step down to the New York Times. Whoopi says regardless of their reasons, she should have been included as an Oscar winner in the New York Times article.

Whoopi went on the View and lashed out at the New York Times for a recent article they wrote about black Oscar winners that did not include her name saying, "It's hard not to take it personally."

The NYT issued a statement to Entertainment Weekly saying Whoopi misread the article.

"The error lies with those who are reading the story incorrectly," the statement reads. "The point of the piece was not to name every black actor or actress who has been awarded an Oscar, it was to draw a comparison between the number who won prior to 2002 (the year Halle Berry and Denzel Washington won) and those who have won since. And the story states very clearly that in 73 years, prior to 2002, only seven black actors/actresses won Oscars."

But Whoopi is not backing down.

"You shouldn't have to read a story five times to get the meaning," she told USA Today at the Marc Jacobs Fashion Week show in NYC on Monday night. "It's an erasure. I've made 50 movies, and no mention?"

"It's sloppy journalism," she added. "I've said my piece."
