Last night at a Grand Ole Opry show at the Ryman Auditorium, Loretta Lynn invited The New Girl star on stage and announced to the audience that she would play her in a Broadway adaptation of her autobiography The Coal Miner's Daughter. Long-time fans of Loretta's will remember how she did the same thing in 1979 when she announced in a similiar fashion that Sissy Spacek would play the title role in the movie version.
"There’s a little girl back stage that’s going to do the play of Coal Miner’s Daughter on Broadway,” she told the audience before the doe-eyed Zooey joined her onstage to sing with the legend.
Zooey gushed to the crowd that the singer was her "hero" and being considered for the title role "an honor" before they sang a rendition of the hit song.

However, fans of both ladies should know that a Broadway version of Coal Miner's Daughter is still in development, with no ink dried on any contract or any creative team officially signed on. Yet, we can definitely picture the multi-talented, Grammy award nominated Zooey in the role.
Stay tuned!
