Alec Baldwin's Accidental Gun Misfire That Killed Cinematographer & Injured Director Reportedly Caught On Camera
The horrifying shooting accident on set of Alec Baldwin's film Rust was reportedly caught on camera.
According to The Sun, cameras were rolling when the actor, 63, discharged a firearm containing actual bullets that took the life of crew member Halyna Hutchins and sent director Joel Souza to the hospital with severe injuries.
“The camera was facing Alec who was shooting in the cameras general direction during a rehearsal scene that was being recorded," the source told the outlet. "The cameras captured Alec shooting but Halyna and Joel were behind the camera so I don’t think the cameras captured them being shot.”
It is unclear if the footage is viewable as there was “broken glass was everywhere” that left “cameras, lights and props" completely damaged.
As OK! previously reported, Baldwin broke his silence on Instagram regarding the horrific accident on Friday, October 22.
“There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother, and deeply admired colleague of ours," the 30 Rock actor said in a statement. "I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family.”
