Amber Heard appeared to be shocked and afraid when she noticed Johnny Depp walking in her direction while exiting the courtroom on Thursday, May 5.
Fans following the bombshell defamation trial rushed to social media and couldn't help but pull the receipts on other courtroom moments when Heard seemingly walked past her estranged ex without concern.
In a clip shared on Twitter, the Aquaman actress could be seen quickly gathering her things after being dismissed from the courtroom. She then stepped down from the witness stand, but when she glanced up, Depp was passing by her. Heard appeared to momentarily stop in her tracks, then immediately shrink away, taking a few steps backwards as if frightened.
"she was scared and he was smug and totally unfazed by it, almost like he thinks he is above it all.." a Twitter user commented in response to the viral video clip. "Very weird, but everyone will just ignore cuz they have made up their minds he is an angel..."
Another replied directly, "She’s been staring at him for weeks now but sure, she was scared lol."

Other commenters speculated the moment could have been staged by Heard in order to make her appear more empathetic.
"Amber Heard walking off the stand 2 days ago, not caring about Johnny's presence," the user captioned a second clip of the Zombieland actress drinking a bottle of water and casually walking past Depp and his legal team while on a break. "Amber Heard walking off the stand 'scared' yesterday. It's a performance."
As OK! previously reported, given the sensitive nature of the case, the court has a careful system in place to assure that the former couple will never have to come too close to each other during the ongoing defamation trial.
Both stars are able to take breaks separately by using different exits on opposite sides of the courtroom. They also have slightly staggered times for entering and exiting as well as deputies standing between them to assure the safety and comfort of both parties.
