Ben Affleck seems to be on edge as of late — and the actor's inner circle fears he’s crumbling under pressure to revive his career amid his high-profile romance with Jennifer Lopez.
"He’s not acting right in the head," a source confides to OK! "He’s making a lot of bad decisions."
Indeed. The Argo actor raised eyebrows on December 14, when he confessed that he felt "trapped" in his marriage to ex Jennifer Garner — with whom he shares Violet, 16, Seraphina, 12, and Samuel, 9 — which, as Affleck tells it, was the reason he "started drinking." (The Tender Bar star, who's been open about his battle with alcoholism, later backtracked and said the interpretation of his comments "hurt [his] feelings.")
Still, his statements came as a surprise to the former couple’s pals, who pointed out the actress, 49, even drove Affleck to rehab in 2018. “It’s troubling that he’s taking out his frustrations on Jen, who tried to help him with his sobriety.”

Affleck, also 49, appears to be struggling with making sure his rekindled relationship with J.Lo goes the distance too. "The fact that they even got back together feels like a miracle," confesses the source of the lovebirds, who dated from 2002 to 2004. "He doesn’t want to mess things up."
Meanwhile, after several box office flops, Affleck’s desperate to secure a career resurgence by taking on back-to-back projects. As a result, the actor is "pushing himself way too hard," says the source, "and putting impossible demands on himself."
As the cracks continue to show, those closest to the Oscar winner are hoping he'll take it easy — for his own sake. "Ben’s running himself ragged and needs to take a step back," adds the insider. "Otherwise, at this rate, he’s a ticking time bomb waiting to explode."
