'Tone Deaf' Billie Eilish Faces Fan Backlash for Officiating Brother's Wedding on 'Stolen Land' After Grammys Comments: 'Practice What You Preach'

Billie Eilish is under fire from fans after officiating her brother Finneas O’Connell’s wedding, with some accusing the singer of failing to "practice what she preaches" following her past "stolen land" comments.

The "Birds of a Feather" singer, 24, presided over the ceremony as O'Connell, 29, exchanged vows with Claudia Sulewski at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, Calif., on Saturday, August 29.

However, fans online were quick to point out the lavish nuptials took place on land that once belonged to Native Americans – a subject Eilish has previously made headlines for speaking out about.

"Of all the tone deaf hypocrites in Hollywood Billie Eilish might be the worst. Truly love how her legacy has become her insufferable hypocrisy," one user wrote, while a second said, "She needs to practice what she preaches."

"Another cosplay struggle artist who wants to set rules for others and yet benefit, on the backend of the things she 'protests' against," a third added. "Nobody should take these people seriously or seek their advice or opinion, they don't have the qualifications or moral fiber to be honest."

As OK! previously reported, Eilish sparked outrage after criticizing ICE while accepting the Grammy Award for Song of the Year for “Wildflower” in February.

"As grateful as I feel, I honestly don’t feel like I need to say anything, but, that no one is illegal on stolen land," Eilish told the audience while wearing an "ICE OUT" pin.

Even back then, critics were quick to point out the irony of her Hollywood lifestyle, with some urging her to return her property to Native Americans as a gesture of good will.

The Department of Homeland Security also directly responded to the songwriter's comments, with spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin stating, "While Hollywood celebrities embarrassed themselves trying to drum up hatred of ICE officers, DHS law enforcement was hard at work."

Eilish is no stranger to being on the receiving end of online backlash. In May, the "Ocean Eyes" singer sparked controversy once again with comments about meat-eaters and animal welfare, arguing the two were incompatible. As a staunch vegan advocate, the singer's long been vocal about her beliefs surrounding animal rights.

"Y’all not gonna like me for this one … Eating meat is inherently wrong," she said in an interview with ELLE at the time. "Two things cannot coincide. ‘I love animals, I love all animals so much,’ and ‘I eat meat.'"

Her comments quickly went viral, with many calling the star out for her "privileged take."
