Pitt was cleared of child abuse allegations by the Los Angeles Country Department of Children and Family Services in 2016. Shortly following the incident, Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 — just two years after they tied the knot in 2014. However, the investigation concluded that there was "not inappropriate physical contact" between Pitt and Maddox.

Pitt is looking for 50/50 joint physical and legal custody of the children. OK! previously reported that Maddox gave testimony in the ongoing dispute that "wasn't very flattering toward Brad" — however, Page Six sources, who first reported that Pitt is "heartbroken," don't necessarily believe those reports to be true.

The pair was declared legally single in 2019. They share children Maddox, 19, Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 14, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 12. Jolie previously filed to remove Judge John W. Ouderkirk from the case, due to an alleged "undisclosed" relationship with Pitt and his camp, which was denied.
