Britney Spears Deactivates Instagram Days After Announcing Engagement To Sam Asghari — But Social Media Absence 'Won't Be Forever', Says Source
Where’d she go?
Pop icon Britney Spears wiped her Instagram clean on Tuesday, September 14. When you click on the “Stronger” singer’s IG handle, it reads: “Sorry, this page isn’t available.”
Her legion of fans swarmed Twitter to share their devastation over the news. “Britney Spears deleted her Instagram account. We no longer get a piece of her,” a user wrote, while another commented: “.@britneyspears Instagram has been deleted. Her only source of outreach. This come less than a day after she posted about being stuck in a conservatorship for 13 years and thanked the #FreeBritney army. We demand answers #FreeBritney.”
The sudden move comes after the Crossroads actress and longtime beau Sam Asghari announced they were betrothed on Sunday, September 12.
The "Baby, One More Time" singer revealed the exciting news in an adorable video of herself and her new fiancé as she proudly showed off the huge rock on that special finger. "I can’t f—ing believe it 💍💍💍💍💍💍❣️!!!!!!," she captioned a now-deleted snap of the two.

In one of the clips, Asghari can be heard saying, "Look at that. You like it?" to which the popstar let out an excited little scream of "yes!"
The hunky male model made his own announcement on his own Instagram account — which, as of now, is still active. In a post featuring a sweet snap of the happy couple kissing, the "If You Seek Amy" singer held out her ring finger to the camera to show off her new beautiful bling.
Fans who are worried about the pop star can breathe a sigh of relief, as a source tells OK! that the mom-of-two is only stepping away from social media for the time being. "Britney's Instagram is down temporarily," says the insider, "but won't be forever."
Meanwhile, “She’s happy and in a great place,” an insider dished to Page Six, following her dad, Jamie, stepping down as her conservator. “Silence can be a powerful thing."
The source noted the newly-engaged superstar is taking some time away from the pressures of social media “in light of the successful path that she’s been on and continues to be on [following] the news of [her engagement].” The next hearing concerning her conservatorship is slated for September 29.
