'How I Met Your Mother' Actress Charlene Amoia Reveals Surprising New Skill She Learned For Starring Role In 'Sons Of Thunder: Redemption'
A woman of many talents!
How I Met Your Mother alum Charlene Amoia is remembered for her recurring role as "Wendy the Waitress" on the popular sitcom, but she's since traded her apron for cowboy boots in her new series Sons of Thunder: Redemption.
In an exclusive interview with OK!, Amoia spills the deets on how she relates to her character and a surprising new skill she had to learn for the show.
Sons of Thunder: Redemption weaves the story of Jacob, a man haunted by the sins of his past. Following years of struggling with addiction and a stint in prison, the character sets out to make amends to all of the people that he's hurt.
"I am his ex fiancé. So he kind of finds me hidden away on a ranch and I am not happy about his visit," Amoia says of her character Sandy. "But through the series ... you see that it's possible for people to change."
Over six episodes, Amoia explains that Sandy is "confronted" with the idea of forgiveness, and eventually "opens up her heart" to allowing herself to heal.

“I think that, like, we all as humans, we're gonna go through life and be impacted by different circumstances and you know get broken hearts here and there," she tells OK!. "I certainly feel I related to her in just the regular kind of ways."
She also admits candidly that she believes "some of us are called to have to deal with things that seem unforgivable" and that she finds that very relatable seeing it play out with Sandy and Jacob.
As for any fun new skills she had to learn in order to slip into Sandy's boots, so to speak, Amoia reveals she got the chance to "really feel like a cowgirl" when she learned how to rope a bull.
"You kind of swing it around your head and you rope a bull. It wasn't a live bull," she quickly clarifies. "So anyway, I had to learn that and that was super fun."
"It's funny because I had a couple days practicing... I was able to do it like every time!" She adds excitedly. "I was kind of shocked myself. It was really fun to learn and I really feel like a cowgirl just going through that motion."
Sons of Thunder: Redemption debuted on Pure Flix January 13, 2022.
