‘I Want Your Sex’ explored generational attitudes toward sexuality.

In I Want Your Sex, Wonders plays Apple, best friend and roommate to Cooper Hoffman's Elliot. Elliot engages in a BDSM relationship with Olivia Wilde's character, Erika Tracy, a bold pop artist.

Through their dynamic, the film explores the generational divide on sexuality, with Erika often challenging Elliot and his fellow Gen Zers for their hesitance to embrace sexual themes.

Wonders noted that while she relates to Erika's frustrations, she hopes the film encourages young viewers to feel more comfortable with sexuality.

"It's couched in all this comedy, and it's joyous," she explained.

"As much as Gen Z bristles at s--, it's like an entry point for us to get exposed to all these things."

Chase Sui Wonders said the film ultimately centered on obsession and love.

The film does feature several explicit scenes, particularly between Wilde and Hoffman. However, Wonders emphasized that there is more to the story than its shocking moments.

"Ultimately, the s-- feels secondary," she stated. "It's a real love story, and it's a story of being obsessed with someone, and that taking over your whole life, and that really hit me today. It's a tragic love story."

I Want Your Sex also features an ensemble cast that includes Johnny Knoxville as a police detective, Margaret Cho as a fellow detective, Mason Gooding, and Charli XCX as Elliot's more conservative girlfriend.

This film represents Gregg Araki's 11th premiere at Sundance, showcasing his continued relevance in contemporary cinema.

Wonders expressed her long-standing admiration for Araki, saying, "I have been a fan of Gregg for forever. I think it's a testament to him that you can get Johnny Knoxville sitting in a chair in a dark room — and he'll just show up because it's Gregg, and it's Olivia, and it's all these people — and crush it."

As the festival continues, the dialogue surrounding sexual expression and generational attitudes remains a focal point. With Chase Sui Wonders' frank insights, audiences are left to consider the evolving relationship between youth and sexuality.
