Bruce Willis is staying strong in the wake of his heartbreaking health news thanks to the unflinching support of his loved ones — including his fiercely loyal ex-wife, Demi Moore.
The actress “was one of the first people Bruce told about his condition,” an insider says of the Die Hard star’s battle with aphasia, a disorder that affects the brain’s language center and a person’s ability to understand or express speech. “Right from the get-go, Demi dropped everything to help. She’s been his rock.”

The Ghost star, 59, who has remained close with her ex since their 1998 split, “is in constant touch with Bruce. She calls him all the time, whether it’s about where to get the best treatment, tips on staying positive or updating him on the latest with their girls [Rumer, 33, Scout, 30, and Tallulah, 28],” shares the insider.

The G.I. Jane actress, however, is careful not to overstep her bounds with her ex's wife, Emma Heming Willis, 43, and their daughters, Mabel, 10, and Evelyn, 7. “Demi has always had a great rapport with all of them,” the insider notes. “And Emma couldn’t be more grateful for the way she’s stuck by Bruce’s side.”
“Demi and Emma have shared discreet conversations over the years about how to protect Bruce and keep his spirits up,” adds the insider.

In the wake of the action star’s devastating diagnosis, the insider says the actor's new mission is to raise awareness of the disease, and Moore has promised to do all that she can to help.
“The family has kept Bruce’s struggle secret for some time, and telling the world wasn’t easy,” the insider adds. (Heming Willis, Moore and her adult daughters released identical Instagram statements on March 30.) “But Demi wanted everyone to see very clearly that they’re all in this together as a family and that they love Bruce with all their hearts. Demi’s bond with Bruce is unbreakable, and he’s lucky to have her in his corner.”
