Doja Cat is getting real about some of the difficult experiences she has faced over the years.
On Monday, August 31, the “Kiss Me More” hitmaker opened up on TikTok about some of the lowest points in her life, including her past cocaine use, through a series of clips she shared separately.
In one video, Doja Cat revealed that she "struggled with cocaine" about eight years ago but said she is "well past that" now.

Doja Cat revealed that she struggled with cocaine about eight years ago and said she is 'well past that' now.
The singer also took a moment to respond to some of the accusations and assumptions that have followed her online.
"A lot of people on the internet believe that I'm demonic — that I have demons, that I have evil in me," the musician said in another video.
Doja Cat’s ‘Undiagnosed’ Mental Illness

Doja Cat said alcohol has been a problem for her and warned against combining it with drugs.
The rapper explained that the perception is tied to a mix of booze, drugs and "undiagnosed" mental illness, along with the criticism she has faced publicly.
"The best example from my experience is using the internet as a means of validation to the negative thoughts in my head, which were then brought on by drinking alcohol," Doja Cat said.
She also spoke about her complicated relationship with drinking, adding, "Alcohol is something that I definitely have had a problem with. I was never an alcoholic, but I definitely had problems. So, if I can teach somebody anything and in a place where a lot of people f------ hate my guts, I will at least say that I am good for teaching you that it's not good to pair these two things together."

Doja Cat pushed back against online claims about her character, including accusations that she is racist or hateful toward herself.
In a third TikTok, the "Streets" songstress tackled accusations that she dislikes herself while reflecting on her experiences growing up as a biracial woman.
She recalled struggling with her identity after moving to a "predominantly white neighborhood" when she was 8 years old. She also explained that getting older helped her become more comfortable with her appearance, including her hair.
"I don't hate myself. I'm not racist. I'm not a white supremacist. I'm not a N---,” she said. "And I will talk about this more in the future, but I'm going to do it in a different way. I just felt like this TikTok was like necessary and I needed to get this s--- off of my chest. Today felt like the right day."
Doja Cat Previously Spoke About Vaping

Doja Cat previously discussed her vaping addiction after undergoing surgery for an infected tonsil in 2022.
Doja Cat has also been open about another substance-related struggle in the past.
In 2022, the Grammy winner revealed that she had undergone surgery after developing an infection on her tonsil.
“Dr. just had to cut my left tonsil. I had an abscess in it,” she wrote on her X account. “My whole throat is f----- so I might have some bad news for y’all soon.”
“My tonsils got infected before BBMAs, and I was taking…antibiotics…but forgot that I was taking them,” the Grammy winner clarified in a follow-up tweet. “Then I drank wine and was vaping all day long, and then I started getting a nasty a-- growth on my tonsil so they had to do surgery on it today.”
‘I Don’t Crave It Anymore’
Doja Cat then asserted she’s “quitting the vape for a while.”
“Hopefully I don’t crave it anymore after that,” she added. “I’m too scared to hit it cuz my throat hurts so bad. I cried for hours. It’s not worth it.”
She went on to explain that the thought of “all that weird poisonous s--- in the vape seeping into the completely open wound” in her throat made her reconsider the habit.
“I’m addicted…I’ma try to go cold turkey for now, but hopefully my brain doesn’t need it all by then,” she explained. “Also, what makes y'all think I can’t go buy a 50 pack right now? It’s not about throwing them away; it’s about not needing them. Right now I NEED THEM. I don’t WANT them [right now] because I’m in pain. But my brain is addicted to it.”
