Dolly Parton's Emotional Relatives Arrive at Her Nashville Burial Site for Intimate Gathering After Singer's Sudden Death: Report

Dolly Parton's loved ones arrived to mourn her death.

The country music legend passed away at a Nashville, Tenn., hospital at 80 years old on August 25 after a brief battle with cancer and ongoing autoimmune and kidney issues.

On the morning of Friday, August 28, family members arrived at her burial site at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville, according to a report from Page Six.

Photos obtained by Page Six featured several shots of her closest loved ones climbing out of their vehicles with somber expressions as they celebrated the Grammy-winning artist's life.

The star is reportedly set to be laid to rest next to her late husband, Carl Dean, who passed away in early 2025.

Among the crowd was Parton's nephew and head of security, Bryan Seaver, who announced her death earlier this week.

"This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago before I fully absorbed it as a future reality," he shared in the video posted across Parton's social media platforms. "As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment, but haven’t truly felt it until now."

"It is an honor, an honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, not with Dolly," he continued. "Dolly has lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus. Surely met by Carl, her parents and countless others who have watched her and longed for her to meet them in the heavens."

Before the group of loved ones arrived with flowers in tow, witnesses claimed the burial site was "crawling with cops," as one officer confirmed: "The family is en route."

The family was dressed in their Sunday best while they attended the gathering, which Seaver was set to be "in charge of."

Most of the unrecognizable children, brothers, sisters aunts and uncles hugged as they sported cowboy hats and tasteful dresses.

Parton's representatives confirmed that her celebration of life would be a "small, private ceremony" attended by only her immediate family.

She previously noted that while she's sure "I Will Always Love You" will play at her funeral, there was another song she hoped her family would sing for her.

The songstress explained that the country-gospel hymn "If We Ever Meet Again" had a special place in her heart.

"That was my daddy’s favorite," she shared. “We did sing it at his funeral, and I would like it to be sung at mine.”

According to Seaver's statement, Parton will ditch her signature wig, rhinestones and glitter while she is lowered into the ground in much more comfortable attire.

"Dolly called me and said she wants to rest in a beautiful bed of plush cotton because, after a life of wearing heavy rhinestones, she finally deserves to be comfortable and have some rest," he shared.
