President Donald Trump stood up for fired Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo after she was stunningly and abruptly let go from the network on September 3.
Trump, 80, took to Truth Social hours after the news broke and offered a tribute to the veteran finance reporter.
Trump Pays Tribute to Maria

Trump stuck up for Maria.
"I can’t believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business," Trump wrote. "Three different shows, always number one. Maria is a total professional, and a true warrior. Her fans, of which there are many, will not be happy."
Bartiromo was at Fox News for over 12 years, hosting Fox Business' Mornings with Maria and Maria Bartiromo's Wall Street, as well as Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.
During her time with the network, she was a Trump loyalist who pushed conspiracy theories that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Trump and featured prominently in the Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit against Fox News.
Reports Suggest Maria Was Fired for Communicating With the White House

Bartiromo reportedly tried to pursue a story related to China and the 2020 election.
While Fox News gave no reason for suddenly "parting ways" with Bartiromo, Puck News' Dylan Byers reported that she was actually fired on August 9.
Bartiromo reportedly wanted to pursue a story connecting China to 2020 election conspiracies, but was shut down by Fox executives who were skittish about voter fraud stories after the network paid $787 million dollars in the Dominion settlement.
Bartiromo forwarded a screenshot of the guidance to the White House, which Fox viewed as a fireable offense. Her executive producer, Patrick Ignozzi, was also fired.
For a month, Fox staff were reportedly barred from talking with her.

Maria Is Challenging That She Was Ever Fired

Bartiromo has stunningly claimed she was never let go by Fox.
Curiously, Bartiromo has challenged that she was ever fired at all.
On September 4, her lawyer, Bryan Freedman, released a statement saying, "The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false."
That contradicts the statement Fox put out on September 3, saying, "Effective today, Maria Bartiromo is no longer with FOX News Media."
The statement also said, “We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter."
Some Have Speculated She Could Become Press Secretary

Vance denied Bartiromo was up for Press Secretary.
In the immediate wake of Baritomo's firing, speculation swirled that she could become the new White House press secretary, a position Karoline Leavitt vacated in August.
Vice President J.D. Vance was asked about the possibility on September 3 and laughed it off, saying, "I don’t know, man. No, I don’t think so."
However, like Trump, Vance sang Bartiromo's praises.
"I love Maria, I think she’s an amazing person, an amazing talent," he told White House reporters.
Bartiromo joins a list of Fox stars who have been unceremoniously let go from the network. Bill O'Reilly was let go from the network in 2017 amid sexual misconduct allegations. Tucker Carlson was suddenly canned from Fox in 2023, though in that instance, a myriad of frustrations caused Fox to get sick of him.
