Halsey Loses Beloved Dog Jagger To Rare Condition, Mourns Loss In Touching Tribute
Halsey — who goes by she/they pronouns — is mourning the death of their beloved pup, Jagger, who passed away at 5-years-old after battling a rare medical condition.
The "New Americana" singer took to Instagram to share their grief as they processes the heartbreaking loss of their "bestest boy."
Halsey opened the message explaining that this has been "the worst week" of their life, noting they never fully understood why people mourned so intensely for pets until they experienced the joys of having a dog of their own.

"I got Jagger when he was just a few weeks old. I sometimes thought about him passing. How would it feel?" The singer wrote in the lengthy post. "I knew it would hurt and I feared it immensely, but I was at peace that we’d have many more years together and he’d have a long good life. Unfortunately that is not how it happened for us."

They added that within only three days, "my beautiful baby boy went from chasing imaginary birds around the yard" to having paralysis rapidly spread through different parts of his body.
"My very first love, who taught me how to be a mommy. My sweet, sarcastic, so very human boy. Every single person who had the privilege of meeting jagger will never forget him. He was that special," they continued. "If you’re reading this and you don’t have a pet, you might be thinking 'it’s just a dog.' Like I maybe used to. But I can tell you you’re wrong."
The Grammy winner described this as "the most visceral loss I have ever felt" comparing it to losing a "vital appendage", then concluded the tribute thanking friends who knew him for "giving him the best life" he could have ever had.
Rest in Peace, Jagger.
