'Dirtbag' J.D. Vance Slammed by Senate Nominee Troy Jackson in Heated Response After VP Downplays ICE Killing in Maine

Maine Democratic Senate nominee Troy Jackson castigated Vice President J.D. Vance, calling him a “dirtbag” in a social media video. Jackson's outburst was a direct response to Vance's comments regarding the fatal shooting of Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, a 25-year-old Colombian native.

Guerrero was shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Biddeford, Maine.

During a campaign rally in Brewer, Maine, Vance downplayed the shooting, framing the administration's priority as securing the border and halting the fentanyl trade.

“And so my message to the Democrats who are so worried about that situation is to say: Have a little bit of perspective," he said.

The VP argued that Democrats focused heavily on a shooting involving an "illegal alien" while ignoring widespread drug overdose deaths.

In response, Jackson argued that Vance lacked perspective himself, labeling ICE a "rogue agency."

“J.D. Vance is a dirtbag. There’s a young man that had a Social Security number, he had a job. I mean, he had a life, he had a family,” Jackson said in a video he posted to social media.

Jackson added that the veep should “have some d---- perspective of his own.”

The aspiring senator continued, “I mean, you don’t even know what the h--- is going on.”

“You got a rogue agency that’s going around, pulling people out of their homes,” he said, referring to ICE. Jackson added that Vance did not “give a s‑‑‑” about Guerrero.

The Homeland Security Department stated the agent was fired out of public safety concerns when Guerrero allegedly tried to leave the premises in a car.

However, Maine Independent Sen. Angus King noted that claims of Guerrero "weaponizing" his vehicle lacked credibility. The ICE agents involved were not wearing body cameras.

Federal authorities initially claimed the operation was targeted surveillance for an individual with a final order of removal. Maine lawmakers quickly contradicted this, pointing out that neither Guerrero nor his roommate had any such removal order.

While the Trump administration continues its internal review, Maine's Attorney General signed a visa application certifying Guerrero's family as crime victims. This implies state authorities are actively investigating the incident under murder and manslaughter statutes.

The rhetoric highlights the escalating tensions of the midterm election cycle. Jackson utilized the moment to pressure his Republican opponent, incumbent Sen. Susan Collins, who expressed her trademark “concern” over the situation.

“I’ll tell you what, concerns and all that does nothing for all of us, does nothing for that family, and I’m sick of your concerns,” Jackson said of Collins.

Collins and King have both called for an independent probe into the shooting, but Jackson publicly questioned whether Collins agreed with Vance's dismissive stance on the family's loss. Other prominent Maine Democrats, including Rep. Chellie Pingree, also condemned Vance's speech, calling it "callous, smug, and offensive."
