Jennifer Lopez Reportedly Felt Ben Affleck Was 'The One That Got Away,' Superstar Was Heartbroken When Their Relationship Ended

After OK! exclusively spilled that Ben Affleck always felt like Jennifer Lopez “was the one who got away” and that he regretted the way their relationship ended, sources are now squealing that Lopez also kept a place in her heart for the hunky actor.

The rekindled duo haven’t been shy about giving their love another shot 17 years after their initial split, as the duo were snapped sharing a passionate smooch over the weekend at celeb hotspot Nobu in Malibu.

Now, it appears Lopez’s decision to take back the Batman star was an easy one. “Jennifer always saw Ben as the one that got away,” a source dished. “She was crushed after they broke up, though she felt at the time that she had no other choice but to call off their engagement.”

Lopez and Affleck met in 2001 while filming the critically panned rom-com Gigli. The two started dating soon after and got engaged a year later. At the last minute, the pair called off their 2003 wedding and split the next year.

The insider noted that it had nothing to do with how Lopez felt about Affleck, but that the timing was off. “As hot and heavy as their relationship was, they were on very different paths at the end of it,” the source told Page Six.

“Jennifer was ready to settle down and have kids, but Ben wasn’t keen on giving up his bachelor lifestyle just yet,” the insider continued, adding: “In the end, she got tired of waiting for him to come around — even though it broke her heart to end things.”

Nearly two decades later, the star-crossed lovers are moving full steam ahead in their relationship, with OK! reporting that Lopez is preparing to pack up her life and relocate from Miami to Los Angeles to be closer to her beau.

Lopez was snapped earlier this month  “scouting out new schools” for her kids in Los Angeles. The Hustlers star’s children, 13-year-old twins Max and Emme, whom she shares with ex-hubby Marc Anthony, have been attending school in Miami for years, OK! learned — but that could be changing soon, as Lopez was spotted touring “at least one school in the L.A. area.”

Although Affleck met Lopez’s twins last week, it is unclear if the “Let’s Get Loud” songstress has been introduced to his three children, daughters Violet, 15, and Seraphina, 12, and son Samuel, 9,  whom he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
