NEWSOK! Told You First: Jennifer Lopez Hangs With Ben Affleck, Singer Leaning On Ex After Alex Rodriguez Split
Is it officially time for round two of Bennifer? Following her bombshell split from baseball pro Alex Rodriguez, a new report confirms that Jennifer Lopez has been hanging out with ex Ben Affleck in recent days.
OK! was the first to exclusively spill that Lopez and her ex-fiancé, who called off their September 2003 wedding, have been in private communication since she headed to splitsville with A-Rod.
Now, according to Page Six, Affleck has been seen multiple times going to the pop star’s home during the day. The actor — who shares three children with ex Jennifer Garner — was even spotted being picked up in a white Escalade SUV, which apparently belongs to J.Lo, before being escorted to her mansion.
“Security picks him up at a nearby location and drops him off after spending a few hours at her house,” a source told the outlet, who notes that the ex-couple has not actually been photographed together.
Affleck, 48, allegedly visited Lopez, 51, three times since she returned home from filming Shotgun Wedding in the Dominican Republic — but things are said to be strictly platonic.
“They are friends,” said an insider, “they’ve never not been.”
However, according to OK! sources, the two are getting close again. It was after Affleck spoke to InStyle for a recent profile on the Latin superstar that things between the Gigli stars started to heat up again.
“Where are you keeping the fountain of youth?” the 48-year-old gushed over Lopez in the magazine's story. “Why do you look the same as you did in 2003 and it kind of looks like I'm in my 40s…at best?”
In response, Lopez said, “Ben is funny! He still looks pretty good too.”
And while she may have acted shocked to hear such kind words from her ex, OK! exclusively learned that Lopez wasn’t surprised at all.
“InStyle asked Jennifer who they should talk to about her for the cover story. It was Jen who gave them Ben’s name,” a source previously told OK!. “Ben and Jen have been talking in private a lot over the past few months, and now the world knows just how close the two of them are again. When things started to get bad with Alex, Jen turned to Ben for advice.”
The insider continued: “She is the rebound girl when it comes to love. After she broke up with Ben, Jen went running back to the arms of Marc Anthony. If she breaks up with Alex, it makes sense she will go running back to Ben.”
It seems as though the former New York Yankees player better act quick if he’s hoping to reconcile with the Hustlers actress. As OK! previously reported, Rodriguez isn’t “ready to completely give up” on their relationship.
In fact, the two were recently seen having a brief reunion dinner on Friday, April 23, at the Hotel Bel-Air — the same luxury hotel where the former flames had their first date back in 2017.
However, as OK! previously reported, Lopez ultimately pulled the plug on her four-year romance with the athlete — following a series of COVID-19 related wedding delays, cheating rumors and breakup reports — because she could no longer fully “trust” Rodriguez, a source dished, adding that there were “too many issues that are unresolved” between the couple.
The duo confirmed their split, ending their engagement on Thursday, April 15, saying they were better off as friends. Only time will tell if the "Let's Get Loud" singer will repeat history.
