After a brief reunion dinner on Friday, April 23, at the Hotel Bel-Air — the same luxury hotel where the former flames had their first date back in 2017 — it’s being reported that Rodriguez still loves Lopez and isn’t “ready to completely give up” on their relationship. “He's holding out hope and that's why he wanted to meet up with Jennifer,” an insider dished, referring to their dinner together at the nostalgic location.
As OK! previously reported, Lopez ultimately pulled the plug on her four-year romance with the athlete — following a series of COVID-19 related wedding delays, cheating rumors and breakup reports — because she could no longer fully “trust” Rodriguez, a source dished, adding that there were “too many issues that are unresolved” between the couple.
The duo confirmed their split, ending their engagement on Thursday, April 15, saying they were better off as friends. "We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and each other’s children," they announced on the TODAY show.
However, the two are hell bent on remaining friends, as J.Lo and A-Rod are closely linked when it comes to business ventures. “We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects,” the couple continued. “We wish the best for each other.”
Lopez leaned on her friends and family for comfort following her split from Rodriguez — but OK! recently learned that a special someone from the superstar's past has been there to pick up the pieces. The Latin superstar has turned to ex-husband Marc Anthony — whom she shares twins Emme and Max, 13, with — to console her.
"Jennifer is doing well,” an insider spilled on how Lopez is feeling post breakup, adding that having her kids and her ex around during this difficult time is the only thing making her happy. "Jennifer and Marc Anthony have a great relationship,” the source continued, noting that Anthony has “been very comforting for Jennifer."
After her devastating split from ex Ben Affleck, Lopez and Anthony married in June 2004 and welcomed the twins in February 2008. The pair ultimately ended their relationship in July 2011. They have remained dedicated to co-parenting their kids and have maintained a friendship, even sharing an onstage kiss during the Latin Grammys in 2016.
Anthony isn’t the only ex Lopez has turned to for support since ending her engagement with Rodriguez. OK! exclusively learned that her and ex-fiancé Affleck “have been talking in private a lot over the past few months” as her rocky relationship with Rodriguez unfolded.
“When things started to get bad with Alex, Jen turned to Ben for advice,” a source told OK!, adding: “It would surprise no one that really knows Jen to see her get back with Ben. When Jen is hurt she finds comfort. Which is exactly what Ben’s providing at the moment. He is like a comfortable pair of old jeans that you can’t throw away.”
If Rodriguez is hoping to reconcile with Lopez, it appears that he's going to have to find a way to make his presence known.
