Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino has a lot to celebrate.
The Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star recently took to social media to share a major milestone in his ongoing sobriety journey.
On Wednesday, December 1, the 39-year-old posted an image to his Instagram account that read “6 Years Clean and Sober,” adding in the caption: “Today we celebrate being a champion."
In 2012, Sorrentino came out publicly with his opioid addiction after deciding to check into a treatment program. The reality star — who is known as one of the party-loving members of the Jersey Shore cast — relapsed over a year after leaving treatment before committing himself to sobriety again in 2016.
His wife, Lauren Pesce — who he married in 2018 — showed her support for her hubby’s accomplishment by commenting on Wednesday's post, “I’m so incredibly proud of you! You’re the most amazing husband, father & husband that I know! I love you forever honey!”

Sorrentino recently became a new dad as he and his wife welcomed their 6-month-old son Romeo Reign earlier this year.
In March 2020, Sorrentino and Pesce opened up to E! Pop of The Morning about how he kept up with his recovery process while serving time in prison for tax evasion in 2019.
“The guys in person were like, 'What? Who smiles all day in prison?' And I was just grateful to be alive, grateful to have another day to wake up, I was also grateful to be with this woman next to me," he said of his wife. "We had such a beautiful wedding and I had such good memories to sort of draw from. And also, I had hope that once I got out that I would really take advantage of my situation and sort of strive for a comeback."
He has tried to remain on the straight and narrow since he made a graceful return for the MTV spinoff: Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, which features fan favorites Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi, Jenni ‘Jwoww’ Farley, Vinny Guadagnino and more.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Sorrentino was nominated for two 2021 People’s Choice Awards, including The Reality Show of 2021 and The Reality TV Star of 2021, which Polizzi is also up for.
“Either one of us should be able to take home the trophy for the Jersey Shore squad,” he told E! News back in October. “It would be a win for the family.”
