Jessica Simpson & Eric Johnson Hit Breaking Point — Find Out What's Driving A Wedge Between This Hollywood Couple

When Jessica Simpson posted a photo on Instagram on March 14 modeling her son’s baseball hat, fans were quick to express concern over her shrinking figure. Now a source tells OK! the 41-year-old star and her husband of seven years, Eric Johnson, have been arguing over Simpson’s apparent obsession with herself and her looks.

The source says Johnson, 42, is particularly concerned about Simpson going overboard with lip injections. (Back in 2006, the fashion mogul claimed to have sworn off lip fillers, saying they looked “fake.”)

“Jessica is preoccupied with plastic surgery, and it’s putting a real strain on things with Eric,” dishes the source. “They love each other dearly, but it hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing. There’s a lot of fighting.”

While Simpson’s laughing off Johnson’s concerns, it’s only making matters worse, says the source. “Eric can’t stand lip injections, and he’s begged his wife to stop getting them, but she just brushes him off. She doesn’t seem to realize how serious he is,” adds the source. “It’s actually driving a big wedge between them.”

Johnson has stood by Simpson’s side through a lot. Five years ago, she decided to get sober after struggling with alcohol abuse. In her 2020 memoir, Open Book, she recalled drinking vodka before driving her children to school (she and Johnson share Maxwell, 9, Ace, 8, and 3-year-old Birdie) and hitting rock bottom when she couldn’t remember dressing the kids in their costumes one Halloween.

Since then, she’s become a more present mom, but the source says Johnson feels as though Simpson is still living a double life.

“It’s confusing to him how she works so hard to prove she’s a devoted wife and mother, while at the same time she’s fixating so much on superficial stuff that shouldn’t matter, especially at this stage in her life,” explains the insider.

Friends are urging Simpson to listen to Johnson. “It’s hard to imagine that something as trivial as plastic surgery could put their marriage at risk, but it’s a very sore point for him,” explains the source. “He feels Jessica spends an awful lot of time worrying about her looks, and he feels strongly that her energy would be better served concentrating on their family.”
