Nick Lachey Admits He Hasn't Read Ex-Wife Jessica Simpson's Book & Never Will: 'It's The Last Thing On My Mind'
Nick Lachey has no desire to look back on his past relationship with his ex-wife Jessica Simpson.
The former 98 Degrees singer, 47 claimed he's never read the blonde babe's memoir, and never will — as he already knows how the story goes.
Simpson, 41, published her tell-all memoir Open Book in February 2020, in which she detailed her most personal struggles, including her battle with alcoholism and broken relationships.
In an interview with Andy Cohen on SiriusXM’s “Andy Cohen Live,” on Monday, November 1, the talk show host asked Lachey about whether or not he's read his ex-wife's tome.
“You’ll be shocked to hear that I have not,” he responded. “Nor will I ever read that book.”
Cohen followed up by asking the singer if anyone has ever given him the “low down” on the book, even though he's expressed his blatant disinterest in opening it up himself.
“Here’s the thing,” Lachey said, “I obviously knew the book was coming out, but I lived the book.”
He continued: “I know what the truth is so I don’t need to read it, or read someone’s version of it in a story that I know, that I lived it.”

The former flames tied the knot during a televised ceremony in Texas back in 2002 that aired the following year. The exes also had a reality TV show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, which ran for three seasons before they announced that they were calling things off in 2005.
Cohen brought up that Simpson is planning a fictionalized drama based on her life, and asked Lachey who he would like to play his role in the film.
However, the former boy band member seemed to dodge the question, insisting his former marriage is no longer part of his life these days.
“That was 20 years ago. It’s honestly the last thing on my mind these days unless when someone brings it up,” he candidly said. “I understand why people want to ask but it’s just so not a part of my life anymore that it’s not even on my radar.”
“She is doing her thing and I am doing mine and that’s how it should be,” he concluded.
Lachey and Simpson both remarried years after ending their relationship, and happened to have gotten engaged within days of each other.
The fashion designer married Eric Johnson in 2014, and the lovebirds share three kids: Maxwell, 9, Ace, 8, and Birdie, 2. Lachey is now married to Vanessa Lachey, with whom he shares children: Camden, 9, Brooklyn, 6, and Phoenix, 4.
