'Monster' J.K. Rowling's Dolly Parton Tribute Attracts Swarms of Criticism as the Author Fires Back: 'Keep Her Name Out of Your Dirty Mouth'

J.K. Rowling received major backlash after posting a tribute to late country music legend Dolly Parton.

Parton passed away on Tuesday, August 25, at 80 years old after a brief battle with cancer, her family confirmed.

The beloved star was most well-known for her work on the stage and screen but always said she wanted to be remembered for her non-profit, the Imagination Library. The program offered free books to millions of children.

Rowling praised Parton for her work in literacy and recalled crossing paths with the songstress as she offered up condolences for her death.

"Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library was the best contribution to child literacy ever made by a celebrity," she wrote on X. "Our paths crossed once, in the '90s, backstage at a talk show, and I was completely tongue-tied and starstruck."

"RIP Dolly," the Harry Potter author concluded. "You were a complete, irreplaceable one-off."

The author has become reviled in the LGBTQIA+ community for her vocal anti-trans perspectives, prompting many to chime in under the tribute.

"It should have been you," one person wrote in a repost of her message.

"Does she know that Dolly Parton has been a long-time supporter of the LGBTQ community?" another asked, while a third chimed in, "You know you and Dolly have nothing to agree upon, you f---- monster."

"She championed trans rights, you f------ a-----," a fourth snarled. "Keep her name out of your dirty mouth."

Rowling wasn't shy about reposting negative comments and firing right back.

"Top tips for wishing death on people in public," she wrote to her first critic. "Blocking the target is useless if you've signposted your real name and university in your bio."

Addressing another claiming she had nothing in common with the Grammy-winning artist, Rowling was quick to offer a correction.

"Well, joke’s on you, because neither of us want Jolene to take our man," she mused, referencing Parton's beloved song "Jolene."

Rowling isn't the only public figure who has faced heat for their tribute to the beloved country legend, as Jeff Bezos' message to the star prompted haters to chime in with sharp words for the tech billionaire.

"Dolly spent her whole life showing us what it means to lead with love. Lauren [Sánchez] and I are so grateful to have known her," he wrote. "She lifted everyone with her music, her generosity and her joy. Sending our sincere condolences to her family and everyone she touched."

Some encouraged Bezos to "be more" like the generous artist while another claimed: "She was everything you are not."
