Happy 19th Birthday, JoJo Siwa! Relive The Star's Huge Year In Photos
When JoJo Siwa first came onto the Hollywood scene, most saw her as just a perky teeny bopper known for viral dance moves on YouTube and bubbly tunes — but in 2021, the Dance Moms alum solidified herself as a role model to millions of young boys and girls and found her happiness along the way.
In honor of her 19th birthday on Thursday, May 19, check out some of Siwa's best moments of the past year!
Coming Out
The star kicked off the year with a bang, posting a TikTok of herself dancing to Lady Gaga's tune "Born This Way," which has been hailed as a LGBTQ+ anthem. She then made her sexuality clear when she posted a photo of herself wearing a tee that read, "Best. Gay. Cousin. Ever."
Siwa followed up with an Instagram Live where she thanked fans and celebs for their support. "Right now, what matters is that you guys know that no matter who you love, that it’s OK, that it’s awesome and that the world is there for you," she insisted. "There’s so many people that are there for you."
A few months later, she clarified, "Technically I would say that I am pansexual because that's how I have always been my whole life is just like, my human is my human."
Finding Love
Love was in the air in the beginning of 2021, as the dancer announced she and Kylie Prew took their friendship to the next level. "I’ve been the happiest I have ever been. She seriously is the most loving, supportive, happiest, protective, and just the most beautiful perfect person in the world," Siwa gushed at the time.
The pair broke up in October, but this spring, she confirmed they were back together by posting a photo of them with the caption. "If you love something let it go, if it comes back….🤍♾."

Making History
The singer broke barriers when she became the first female contestant on Dancing With the Stars to have a same-sex partner, joining Jenna Johnson on the dance floor.
"It's going to be tricky but it's going to give so much to people out there. People of the LGBTQ community, everyone. People who feel just a little different," she expressed. "It's going to give them a sense of, 'Wait a second? A girl can dance with a girl?' Obviously, why not? I think that's really special that I get to do that on this show. I'm so excited."
The ladies finished in second place.
Feeling Herself
Since making it big, the bubbly blonde admitted that she used to wear only baggy clothes because she lacked confidence in her appearance, but her DWTS partner helped her with body image.
"It's wild how things can single-handedly change your life. [Johnson] has single-handedly changed the way that I think about myself, look at myself, feel about myself..." Siwa revealed. "She made me say a lot of things to myself that I never said before and never thought [to]. And now, slowly but surely, I'm finding myself, I'm finding how I feel about myself."
