Actress Katey Sagal is celebrating 40 years of sobriety.
Sagal, 72, uploaded an Instagram post on Sunday, August 23, of herself blowing out candles in celebration of her major milestone, surrounded by loved ones.
"Me..last night…celebrating 40 years of continuous SOBRIETY, surrounded by like-minded friends, my amazing husband and these three loves of my life," the 8 Simple Rules star wrote.

Katey Sagal rang in the milestone surrounded by Kurt Sutter, Sarah Grace White, Jackson White and Esme Sutter.
Sagal tagged her husband, Kurt Sutter, their daughter Esme Sutter, 19, and children Sarah Grace White, 32, and Jackson White, 30, whom she shared with ex-husband Jack White.
"Grateful beyond…it’s a wonderful life," she added.
Her family grinned from ear to ear nearby as the actress celebrated with decorations, cookies and cake decades after giving up drugs and alcohol in 1986.
Loved ones snapped photos and applauded while the Married...With Children alum gleefully rejoiced in her own accomplishment.

Katey Sagal revealed she first used drugs and alcohol as a teenager.
The star revealed on the "MeSsy Podcast" with Christina Applegate in 2025 that she began using drugs and alcohol when she was only 15 years old.
"I'm a person that for probably the first 30 years of my life, didn't deal with s---," she explained. "I medicated myself to where I didn't really deal with my emotions."
"My parents died, I had cancer in my 20s, I mean, a bunch of s--- happened," Katey added. "And I didn't really deal with it. Then I stopped medicating myself, and now I have no choice but to deal with it."
Katey Sagal said sobriety helped her deal with the 'dark sides' of life.
Katey explained that the biggest inspiration for her sobriety was developing an ability to process and deal with the "dark sides" of her life.
"It's the way I choose to live my life, but in order to stay unafraid, to walk in faith, to be a person that can look at the dark sides and really process them," she stated last year. "I've learned this way that I live my life, which I think has been the biggest inspiration."
"The brave part of living a sober life is that life's f------ terrifying," she concluded. "And you got to look at it. What I have found around community, around all that, is I know lots of people that have walked through everything I've walked through. The opposite of addiction is community."
