Kelly Clarkson is making a big change.
The 39-year-old singing sensation filed documents earlier this week to legally change her name to something that more accurately resonates with who she truly is.
According to Us Weekly, Clarkson is hoping to drop her last name and go by her first and middle name instead, which would make her full name Kelly Brianne.
In court documents obtained by the outlet, the "Since U Been Gone" artist claimed she has a "desire" to change the moniker because "my new name more fully reflects who I am." A hearing on the matter was reportedly scheduled for March 28.
Clarkson's court filing comes in the wake of her ugly divorce with ex Brandon Blackstock, with whom she shares her two children, River, 7, and Remington, 5. She filed for divorce in June 2020 after nearly seven years of marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.

While she was declared legally single back in September 2021, the powerhouse vocalist is still hashing out the details of her divorce in court, especially when it comes to the former pair's financial situation.
As OK! reported, Clarkson previously agreed to give her ex 5.12% of her ranch property in Montana, which translates to about $908,800 of the total $17M property. Last year, a judge also ruled that she would be required to temporarily fork over spousal support, although The Voice judge is doing everything she can to protect her own assets going forward.
A source recently revealed that Clarkson has no plans of settling with her ex-hubby, as they are still trying to reach a formal agreement in court. "She will not even entertain the idea of settling with Brandon," the insider dished. "He will not get one penny from her that isn't ordered by the judge."
The Kelly Clarkson Show host reportedly walked away from Blackstock after she felt he was only in it for the money, another source spilled. "She could no longer trust Brandon, and she felt that Brandon was just using her for her money and lifestyle," the insider stated. "She had tremendous resentment toward him."
"She just wasn't willing to look the other way anymore," despite trying to keep her marriage work for her kids' sake. "The marriage was really, really awful at the end," as Clarkson "had a lot of questions that he just couldn't answer," spilled the source.
