Lara Trump shared an "inflation map blunder" on Instagram that her father-in-law, President Donald Trump, then reposted on Truth Social in a humiliating blunder.

While she intended to present Trump's economic record favorably, viewers and analysts pointed out that the data relied on an unfair and mathematically flawed comparison.

Critics noted that the chart compared full four-year presidential terms against Trump’s second term at only month 18, falsely assuming inflation would magically freeze at 0 percent for the remaining 30 months.

Lara Trump's graph listed former President Joe Biden's cumulative inflation at 21.20 percent.

Lara’s post compared the cumulative inflation rates over the last 10 presidential terms, using data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The graphic listed former President Joe Biden's cumulative inflation at 21.20 percent over his full four-year term.

It placed Trump's second term at the very bottom of the list, boasting a low 4.71 percent inflation rate.

Lara Trump's graph appeared to provide misleading information.

As Lara, a former Inside Edition producer, acknowledged in her caption, Trump's second-term figure only accounted for Month 18 of his presidency.

By stacking 18 months of price growth against full 48-month terms of previous administrations, the chart falsely implied that Trump's current term would maintain the lowest inflation overall.

Fact-checkers like FactCheck.org pointed out that for this comparison to be accurate, inflation would have to drop to 0 percent for the remaining 2.5 years of his term — a highly unrealistic scenario.

Furthermore, data experts noted that when comparing all ten presidents at the same 18-month mark, Trump's second-term inflation is actually the fourth-highest among them.

Many users pointed out that freezing an 18-month inflation rate and comparing it directly to previous 48-month terms was a blatant logical fallacy.

"Fake news, unfortunately,” said one. “This is all false!!" blasted another.

“So you’re telling me prices will magically freeze for the next 2.5 years? Who actually falls for this?" wondered another.

Despite the data flaws, the elderly president amplified the blunder by sharing Lara’s video and caption on Truth Social.

The graphic's release follows growing scrutiny of the administration's economic performance, as recent polling shows a sharp decline in public approval of his handling of inflation.

Since Trump’s second inauguration in January 2025, consumer prices have risen by roughly 4.3 percent overall.

The year-over-year inflation rate stands at 3.4 percent as of August. This is higher than the roughly 3 percent inflation rate recorded the month he took office.

Inflation under his second term actually spiked to a three-year high of 4.2 percent in May, driven by the flailing war with Iran and Trump’s aggressive tariffs.
